Patricia Carlin was privileged to work for a Footsie 100 company for 24 years, rising through the ranks; latterly employed developing new markets and business development opportunities in the USA, Central, South America and the Caribbean, heading up the strategic business unit with a turnover of £100+ million p.a. The opportunities offered in this role included brand research within new markets, procurement, creation of new products to meet market demands and comply with legislation, product launches, protection of IP, sales and marketing, recruitment and selection and training of Agents and their employees, running a profit centre using LEAN ethic of continuous improvement, financial and data analytics, setting and managing budgets, currency transaction, import and export legislation and administration and negotiation of contracts with Government Departments and high worth companies.

In 2006 I joined Flintshire County Council as the Senior Business Advisor to assist SME’s and large companies develop their Businesses..
My role was to support businesses, charities, and local enterprises, underpinned by completing the ILM 7 qualification in Executive Coaching and Mentoring in 2012. I have also completed an MA in Public Sector Management and am a CMI Chartered Manager.
Inward investment was a pivotal part of the role alongside business development, rapid redundancy response and liaising with FCC departments on planning and other LA centric and Government issues.
Having departed FCC I have recently moved to a new role as a Director at ITSG World Ltd, which is an affiliation of independent specialists providing hands on support to develop International Trade in both the private and public sectors. Our mission is to increase knowledge and confidence in international trade to benefit the UK economy.
Charity and Social Enterprise Experience
Having volunteered with the Red Cross I have held other Volunteer posts e.g. Chair of the Finance and General Purposes Committee for Flintshire Voluntary Services 2004-2006 and Chair of Kim Inspire 2010 – 2015. I was a Trustee of NEWCIS and a Director of CVL (a company not for profit limited by guarantee).
Since 2015 I have been working with Deeside Business Forum (a company limited by guarantee not for profit), creating a voice for the local businesses and delivering business forums throughout the county including, SAFE, CH4, DDF, FGH and FSG. I have also supported MDA as an affiliate.
Transferable skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of identifying improvement benefits by assessing and targeting processes to bring about core value delivery of organisational priorities and strategic imperatives. Working within diverse manufacturing and service environments has provided an insight into business process redesign to produce the best outcomes to meet stakeholder expectations. Knowledge of LEAN practice and introducing concepts by encouraging optimisation of customer value by minimising waste working towards LEAN thinking in all work streams.
Project management has proven to be a particular skill and has been evidenced by delivering new projects on time and within budget by encouraging internal and external partners to work together to deliver efficient and effective improved service delivery e.g. Flintshire Business Week, NWBE19# and ~21, DBF, FGH, SAFE, CH4, FSG business for and Wales Rally GB STEM event 2015 – 2019 ,and #BING23.”
